Great Great Uncle of W.P.
'Bill' Richardson
William was the sixth child of William Pallister and
his wife Marianne (nee Welch).
He was born in the fourth quarter of 1862 at Usworth,
Co. Durham and his baptism took place at Holy Trinity,
Usworth on 25th December 1862. The baptism record in the
parish register says that the family lived at Inkerman
[Terrace] and William's Dad was a miner.
In the 1871 census William was recorded as
being eight years old and living in the family home at
The Square, Usworth, Co. Durham with his parents.
On the 1881 census William was 18 and, like his Dad,
working as a coal miner. His occupation was listed as
'Putter', that was the job of moving the coal in tubs
when it had been hewed from the face and returning the
empty tubs ready to be filled again.
As yet, I can't find a definite record of William
after the 1881 census, but I will keep looking :-)
