John was born on
5th August 1900, his parents were Ralph
Middleton and his wife Annie (nee Richardson). His birth
was registered in the Chester le Street Registration
District. He was baptised on the 22nd
August 1900 and his baptism was recorded in the
Primitive Methodist Register for Jarrow Circuit. That
record says the family lived at New Washington and that
John's Dad was a bricklayer. The census of 1901 recorded the
family living at 2, Cooperative Freehold, Usworth, Co.
Durham. John's Dad, Ralph, was a 26 year old bricklayer
and his Mam, Annie, was 25. John was the baby of the
family at just 8 months old and had an older brother,
Robert who was 3. Sadly John died in the
third quarter of 1906, aged 5. His death was registered
in the Chester le St Registration District. |
