Sarah Annie
(Nancy) was born on 16th July 1910, she was the fourth
child of Robert Richardson and his wife Sarah Ann (nee
Purvis). Her birth was registered in the Chester le
Street Registration District. She was
baptised at St Michael's Church, Usworth on 9th August
1910, the record says that the family lived at Wood
Terrace and that Sarah's Dad was a miner. The census
of 1911 recorded her, aged 8 months, in the family home
at 13 Wood Terrace, New Washington, Co. Durham. Her Dad,
Robert, was 33 and worked as a hewer in the mine. Her
Mam, Sarah, was 37. She had a sister, Esther (10) and a
brother, Robert (8). Another sister, Doris had been born
in 1905 but sadly she died aged one.
In 1912, another sister, Irene, was born.
In the second quarter of 1934, Sarah Annie married
Robert Sanderson. Their marriage was registered in the
Chester le Street Registration District.
Sarah Annie and Robert were to have three children,
Jack (born 1934), Robert (born 1937) and Irene (born
1940). Sarah Annie died in February
1995, she was 84 years old. Her death was registered in
the South Shields Registration District. |
