Irene was born on
17th July 1912, her birth was registered in the Chester
le Street Registration District. Her parents were Robert
Richardson and his wife Sarah Ann (nee Purvis).
She was baptised on 14th August 1912 when she was almost
a month old. Her baptism was recorded in the Primitive
Methodist Register for Jarrow Circuit and the record
says that the family lived at 13, Wood Terrace, Usworth
and Irene's Dad worked as a miner.
Irene had a brother , Robert (born 1903) and three
sisters, Esther (born 1901), Doris (born 1905) and Sarah
Annie (born 1910). Sadly Doris died in 1906 when she was
only a year old. In the last quarter of
1937, Irene married George Dryden. They had two
children, Irene (born 1942) and Ann (born 1945).
Irene died on April 25th 2009. |
