Wife of
W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Uncle, Ralph Pallister
Richardson
Frances was born
in the second quarter of 1884, her parents were William
Carr and his wife Eleanor (nee Scott) and her birth was
registered in the Easington Registration District.
Frances was recorded on the census of 1891 aged 7. The
family were living at 66 Church St., Boldon, Co. Durham.
Her Dad. William, was 43 and worked as a coal miner, her
Mam, Eleanor, was 41. Frances had lots of brothers and
sisters. Peter (20) and John (18) both worked in the
mine like their Dad, Ellen (15) did not have an
occupation listed, Jane (12) and Mary (10) were at
school. Then there was William (2) and the baby was
Annie (3 months). In 1899, Frances' Mam
Eleanor died, she was 49 years old and her death was
registered in the Chester le Street Registration
District. By the time of the 1901 census,
the family had moved to Old Row, Usworth. Frances was
17. Her Dad was listed as a widower, aged 53 and he
worked as a hewer in the mine. Of her brothers and
sisters, only the two youngest
children were still at home, William (12) and Annie (10)
. There was no occupation listed for Frances but I
suppose since her Mam died she looked after the children
and the house while her Dad was at work .
On the 21st June 1905, Frances married Ralph Pallister
Richardson at Chester le Street Primitive Methodist
Central Church. Frances was 21 and Ralph was 25, his
occupation was recorded as 'Engineman Cooperative
Stores'. Their witnesses were William Varty and
Barbara Taylor and the ceremony was performed by Walter
Duffield, Primitive Methodist Minister.
The census of 1911 counted Frances and Ralph at 1
Monument Terrace, New Washington. Frances was 27 and
Ralph was 30. The census return stated that they had been
married for 5 years and they'd had 2 children, happily
both still living and counted in the household with them,
Robert was 4 and Ralph Pallister was 4 months.
Frances' husband, Ralph, died in 1945, aged 64.
Frances died in the first quarter of 1979, she was 95
years old and her death was registered in the Sunderland
Registration District. |
