Son of W.P. 'Bill'
Richardson's Great Aunt,
Sarah Isabella Howey
John was born in the last quarter of
1894 in Witton le Wear. His parents were Walter Potts
and his wife Sarah Isabella (nee Howey). He was baptised
at the parish church in Witton le Wear on 4th August
1895.
He was recorded with his family in
Witton le Wear on the 1901 census, he was six years old.
His Dad was 48 and worked as a Sanitary Pipe Maker, his
Mam was 38. John had five sisters, Georgina (born 1888),
Mary Eleanor (born 1890), Annie (born 1893), Esther
(born 1896) and Bertha (born 1899).
When the 1911 census was taken, John was
16. He worked as a labourer in the brick yard as did his
Dad, Walter (58). Mam, Sarah, was 48. John's older
sisters, Georgina and Mary Eleanor were no longer in the
family home, but Annie (18) was there, she worked as a 'day girl, domestic', Esther (14) and Bertha
(11) both attended school.
The 1911 census showed that there were
two more children in the family who had died very young,
these were Isabel (1891-1892) and George Walter
(1901-1904).
As yet, I do not have any more
information about John. |
