Katie was the
fifth child of John Moordaff Cape and his wife Mary
Ellen (nee Gilliland).
She was born in the first quarter of 1909 and her birth
was registered in the Auckland Registration District.
The census of 1911 recorded the family
living at Front St., Sunniside, Co. Durham. Her Dad,
John was 34 and worked in the coal mine as a hewer, her
Mam, Mary Ellen, was 36. Katie was two and she had an
older sister Annie who was ten. In the
final quarter of 1931, Katie married Stanley Pendlebury
at Crook Primitive Methodist Church. Katie was 22 and Stanley was 29.
Katie and Stanley had two daughters, Mary (born 1933) and
Ruth (born 1943).
Katie died in the last quarter of 1966, she was 57 years
old and her death was registered in the Durham S E
