Son of
W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Aunt, Mary
Lee
Harry was born on
14th May 1888, he was the first child of Harry Doyle
Cotton and his wife Mary (nee Lee) and his birth was
registered in the Camberwell Registration District.
He was two years old when the census of 1891 was taken
and was recorded with his family at 39 Arbuthnot Road,
St. Paul, Deptford. His Dad, Harry was 25 and his
occupation was listed as an assistant wool valuer. Mam,
Mary was 27 and she was working as an assistant teacher.
Harry had a brother, John, aged one and there was also a
general domestic servant, Anne E Cotton, who was born in
Suffolk. Anne may have been a relation and she probably
looked after the children when Mary was at work.
When the 1901 census was taken, Harry was 12. He was not
counted with his parents as he was staying with his
Granny, Mary Cotton and his aunt Hannah Campbell (nee
Cotton) at Upper Gloucester St in Marylebone.
Sadly, Harry died on 23rd October 1902, he was just 14
years old. |
