(1st September 1897  -  ?)

Son of  W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Aunt, Annie Lee

Edwin was born on 1st September 1897. He was the fourth child of Thomas Ellison and his wife Annie (nee Lee) and his birth was registered in the Auckland Registration District.

He was baptised on 16th September 1897 and his baptism was recorded in the Crook Register of Methodist Baptisms. The family lived at Mount Pleasant and his Dad's occupation was recorded as Schoolmaster.

He was counted in the 1901 census, with his family at Milburn Street, Crook, Co. Durham. Aged 3, he had two older brothers, Stephen (11) and Sydney (8) and a sister Mabel who was 9. Edwin's parents were both 35 and his dad was listed as as schoolteacher.

Sadness for the family, when Edwin's brother Sydney died in 1903, aged 10, and again in 1905 when their Mam, Annie, died. Edwin would only have been about eight when his Mam died.

The census of 1911 recorded the family still in Milburn Street. Edwin was 13. His dad, Thomas, was 45 and still a schoolteacher, and his older brother Stephen (21) was a student teacher. Edwin's sister, Mabel, was 19 and as no occupation was listed for her I assume she looked after them all.

In the first quarter of 1929, Edwin married Margaret Rawe, their marriage was registered in the Auckland Registration District.

I do not yet have a record of Edwin's death.
