Daughter of  W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Great Uncle, John Richardson

Mary Ann was born on 1st June 1859 at Little Usworth, Co. Durham, she was the second child of John Richardson and his wife Elizabeth (nee Coyle).

Her brother, James, had been born in in 1857, but sadly only lived for a few weeks.

By the time of the 1871 census, Mary Ann was 11 years old. The family had moved to Waterloo Terrace, still in Usworth,  her Dad was 40 and working in the mine. Elizabeth, Mary Ann's mother was 33 and more children had arrived since the previous census,  Isabella (9), Elizabeth (5) and Thomas was the baby at just two months old.

The 1881 census recorded Mary Ann, aged 21, working at Lamesley North Farm as a dairy maid.

As yet, I do not have any informaton for Mary Ann after 1881.
