                          Hannah was born in 
                        the first quarter of 1851, her parents were George 
                        Wilson, a miner, and his wife Hannah ( possible maiden 
                        name of Porter). Her birth was registered in the 
                        Houghton le Spring Registration District. 
                        The census of 1851 recorded Hannah as age 1, living with 
                        her family at West Rainton. Her Dad, George, was 42 and 
                        worked as a miner, Mam, Hannah, was 39. Hannah had an 
                        older sister, Mary (12) and two brothers George (9) and 
                        Thomas (7). Ten years later, on the 1861 
                        census, the family were still in West Rainton. Hannah's 
                        Dad, George, was 53 and a coal miner, her Mam, Hannah, 
                        was 49. The older children , Mary and George were no 
                        longer listed in the family home, Hannah was 11, her 
                        brother Thomas was 17 and working as a shoemaker's 
                        apprentice. They had a new younger brother, Robert, who 
                        was 8. In the second quarter of 1870, 
                        Hannah married Thomas Richardson, their marriage was 
                        registered in the South Shields Registration District. 
                        Hannah was 20 and Thomas was 30. The 
                        census of 1871 showed the couple at 30, North St., 
                        Jarrow. Hannah was 21, her husband, Thomas, was 31 and 
                        he was listed as an 'engineman at works'. Hannah's 
                        mother, also called Hannah, lived with them she was 59. 
                        1881, the census showed the family still in North St., 
                        Jarrow but in a different ( and possibly larger) house. 
                        Hannah was 31 and she now had two children, Hannah Mary 
                        (8) and Elizabeth Ellen (5). Her husband, Thomas, was 40 
                        and his occupation was listed as brakesman/steam 
                        hammerman. Her Mam, Hannah (69), still lived with them 
                        and they also had two lodgers Daniel Commersale and 
                        Thomas Gillespy. Hannah's mother died in 
                        1888, aged 76. When the 1891 census was 
                        taken, Hannah was 41, she and her family were living at 
                        5, Lime St., Jarrow. Her husband, Thomas, was recorded 
                        as a 53 year old engineman. Their daughters Hannah Mary 
                        (18) and Elizabeth Ellen (16) were both working as 
                        domestic servants. They still had lodgers, though 
                        different ones to the previous census, John Harrison 
                        (55) who was a coal miner and George William Lamb (18) a 
                        hydraulic crane driver. George William was to marry 
                        their daughter Hannah Mary a few months later. 
                        By 1901 Hannah and Thomas had moved to 17 Hibernian 
                        Road, Jarrow. Hannah was 51 and Thomas was 62, he worked 
                        as an engineman in the railway works. For the first time 
                        in their marriage, there were just the two of them in 
                        the house, the children had married and left home and 
                        they no longer had lodgers. Hannah's 
                        husband, Thomas Richardson, died in 1910, aged 70. 
                        Hannah was recorded on the census of  1911,  
                        at number 19, Hibernian Road, Jarrow. She was 62 and 
                        listed as a widow. She wasn't supposed to ( it was 
                        crossed out by the enumerator) but she had completed the 
                        columns stating that she had 2 children and they were 
                        both still alive. Hannah died in the last 
                        quarter of 1918, she was 69 years old and her death was 
                        registered in the South Shields Registration District.  |
