Daughter
of W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Great Aunt, Jane Howey
Jane Ann was the
daughter of Thomas Rochester and his wife Jane (nee
Howey). She was born in the first quarter of 1886 and
her birth was registered in the Alnwick Registration
District. She was 5 years old when the
census of 1891 was taken and was recorded with her
family at Refuge Cottage, Titlington, Northumberland.
Her brothers and sisters were : Robert (12), Esther
(10), Grace (8), Elizabeth (3) and Thomas (2 months).
Their Dad was 51 and worked as an agricultural labourer,
Mam was 45. By the time of the 1901
census, Jane Ann was 15. Still living at Refuge Cottage
and working as a general domestic servant. The
others listed for the family were : Dad, Thomas (61) an
estate labourer, Mam, Jane (55), sisters Grace (18) who
was a dressmaker and Elizabeth (13) plus brother Thomas
(10). In 1911 the census showed Jane as
age 25, living and working as a waiting maid at Breamish
House, Glanton. Jane did not marry and
she died in 1955, aged 84. Her death was registered in
the Northumberland North First Registration District. |
