Son of  W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Great Uncle, Jacob Turnbull

 

Thomas Hemsley Turnbull was born in the first quarter of 1876 and his birth was registered in the Alnwick Registration District. His parents were Jacob Turnbull and his wife Mary (nee Craghild).

The 1881 census recorded Thomas as age 5, living with his family at Swarland, Northumberland. He had a sister, Isabella (8) and two brothers, George (11) and Jacob (2). Their Mam, Mary, was 29 and their Dad, Jacob, was 40.

By the time of the 1891 census Thomas was 15, he was living and working at Shawdon Woodhouse, where his Aunt Jane was the famer's wife.

In 1901 Thomas was living wih his father, Jacob, at Ulgham. They both worked as coal miners. His sister, Isabella, also lived with them her husband , Robert Nicholson, was a coal miner too.

In the second quarter of 1902, Thomas married Margaret Jane Abercrombie. Thomas was 26 and Margaret was 25 and their marriage was registered in the Morpeth Registration District.

The 1911 census recorded Thoms and Margaret at 93, Myrth St., Hirst, Ashington, Northumberland. Thomas was 35 years old and worked as a coal miner. Margaret was 34 and the census form stated that they had been married for eight years and had no children.

I do not yet know when Thomas died.
