Son
of W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Great Uncle,
Jacob Turnbull
Jacob was born in
1879 and his birth was registered in the Alnwick
Registration District. He was the last child of Jacob
Turnbull and his wife Mary (nee Cragild).
The census of 1881 recorded him, aged two, at Swarland,
Northumberland with his family. Jacob had two brothers,
George (10) and Thomas (5) and a sister, Isabella (8).
Their Mam, Mary, was 29 and their Dad, Jacob, was 40 and
worked as a rabbit catcher. By the time
of the 1891 census Jacob was 12 and was listed on the
census form as a scholar. His older brother George (20)
and sister Isabella (18) were also listed in the house
and they both worked as agricultural laourers. His Mam
was 39 and his Dad was 50. In 1901 the
census showed Jacob as 25 and working as a coal miner.
He lived at Ulgham, Northumberland with his father,
Jacob (60), also working as a coal miner. His sister
Isabella had married and she and her husband, Robert
Nicholson, also lived with them. RObert was a coal miner
too. As yet, I have not been able to find
a definite record of Jacob after the 1901 census. |
