Margaret was born
in West Rainton, her parents were John Hindmarch and his
wife Eizabeth and her birth was registered in the first
quarter of 1939. She was baptised at St
Mary's Parish Church, West Rainton on 2nd January 1839.
Margaret was recorded on the 1841 census, at West
Rainton, though I don't suppose she took much notice as
she was only 2 years old. Her Dad, John, was 45 and
worked as an agricultural labourer. Mam, Elizabeth, was
40. Margaret had eight brothers and sisters: James (15)
who was listed as an engineer, Ann (15), John (14), Jane
(13), Elizabeth (11), Abraham (7), George (5) and
Eleanor (2 months). Quite a full house !
By the time of the next census, in 1851, Margaret was 12
years old. |
