Great Great Aunt of  W.P.
                        'Bill' Richardson

Esther was born around 1839, the second child of Adam
Howey and his wife Sarah (nee Watson).
On the 1841 census she was recorded as 'Charlot' aged 3,
                        that's a bit of a mystery as I can't find either a birth
or a baptism record for her so far.

By 1851, the census recorded her correctly as Esther, a
scholar aged 12. She was living with her family at
Silverside Farm, Snitter, Northumberland where her
father worked as a farm labourer.

Ten years later, on the 1861 census, Esther was 22 and
earning her living as a dressmaker. The family were
living at Shawdon Wood House and her two younger
brothers , Thomas and John both worked on the farm like
their Dad as did their younger sister Jane.

Esther's mother, Sarah, died in January 1871.

The 1871 census recorded Esther as 32, still listed as a
dressmaker and there was just her and her father living
in the family home. They had visitors though - Adam's
                        daughter in law and grandaughter.

Esther died in January 1873, she was 34 years old and
                        was buried at Whittingham.
