Wife
of W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Uncle, John
Robinson Richardson
Elizabeth Ann was born in the second
quarter of 1884, her birth was registered in the
Sunderland Registration District. Her parents were
Joseph Mullier and his wife Elizabeth (nee Hutchinson).
The 1891 census recorded the family at 25 Coxons Row,
Little Usworth, Co. Durham. Elizabeth Ann was 7 and the
census return says she was born in Castletown, which is
in Sunderland. Her father, Joseph, was 44 and his
occupation was 'Police Constable', her mother,
Elizabeth, was 33. The other children in the family were
Joseph (10), James (8), Ada (2) and William (3 months).
Elizabeth Ann's little brother WIlliam died the next
year, aged one. They were still living in
Coxons Row at the time of the 1901 census. Dad, Joseph,
was listed as a 56 year old Police Constable, Mam,
Elizabeth was 43. Elizabeth Ann was 17, there was
no occupation listed for her. Her older brothers were
working for their living, Joseph (20) was a fitter
(above ground) and James (18) was a joiner. Her younger
sisters were Ada (12), Margaret (4) and Olive May (6
months). Sadly Elizabeth Ann's little
sister Olive May died in 1903, aged 2. In
the first quarter of 1905, Elizabeth Ann married John
Robinson Richardson, their marriage was registered in
the Chester le Street Registration District.
In the third quarter of 1906, Elizabeth had a little
girl who they named Olive after Elizabeth Ann's sister
who had died. Sadly, this baby did not survive either
and died within the same quarter in which she was born.
In the last quarter of 1907, Elizabeth Ann had another
little girl. This time they named her Olive, for
her Aunty and sister who had both died. Great sadness
when this wee one too died in the same quarter in which
she was born. They were recorded on the
census of 1911 at 3 Elliott Terrace, New Washington, Co.
Durham. Elizabeth Ann was 27 and her husband, John, was
28, his occupation was listed as Colliery Horsekeeper.
They had a 3 month old baby, also called John.
Elizabeth Ann and John were to have two more children,
Alan (born 1915) and Elsie (born 1918). Sadly, Alan was
killed on active service during world war two.
Elizabeth Ann died in the first quarter of 1935, she was
51 years old and her death was registered in the Chester
le Street Registration District. |
