Son of
W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Uncle, William Gilliland
Hugh was born in
the first quarter of 1909, the second child of William
Gilliland and his wife Lily (nee Tweddell), his birth
was registered in the Lanchester Registration District.
He was recorded on the 1911 census, with
his family at 8 South View, The Court, Lintz , Co.
Durham. His Dad, William, was 40 and was working as a
coal miner, a hewer. His Mam, Lily, was 30. Hugh had an
older sister, Mary, who was 3.
Hugh was to later have other brothers
and sisters Elsie (born 1912), David (born 1914), Lily
(born 1916) and Grace (born 1920). Sadly Elsie did not
live long and died in 1913.
On the 14th September 1935, Hugh married
Marion H Lisle, he was 26 and she was 24. Their marriage
was registered in the Lanchester Registration District.
Hugh and Marion were to have two children, David, born
in 1936 and Alan born in 1937. Hugh's
wife, Marion, died on 29th February 1984. She was 82
years old. Hugh died on 22nd March 1990,
he was 81 and his death was registered in the Durham NW
Registration District. |
