Husband
of W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Great Aunt,
Isabella Richardson
William was born
in about 1835. His mother was called Eleanor, I do not
know his father's name. He was recorded
on the 1841 census aged 6, his mother, Eleanor, was 27
and he had a younger sister, Catherine, who was 6 months
old. They lived at Felling High St., Heworth.
By the time of the 1851 census, William was 16 and
working as a miner. He was no longer living with his
family but lodged in the house of another miner, Richard
Brown, at Middle Row, Heworth. In the
last quarter of 1857, William married Isabella
Richardson. They were both 22 years old and their
marriage was registered in the Sunderland Registration
District. The 1861 census recorded the
couple at High St., Hedworth, Monkton and Jarrow.
William was 25 years old and worked as a boiler maker,
Isabella was 24. In 1871 they were living
at North St., Hedworth. William was 36 and listed as the
publican of the Victoria Hotel. Isabella was also 36.
The other people in the household were Ann Simonds (8),
listed as William's niece, Margaret McVete (26) and Amy
Southare (17) who were both listed as general servants.
I do not yet have any definite
record of William and Isabella after the 1871 census. |
