Daughter 
                        of  W.P. 'Bill' Richardson's Great Great Uncle, 
                        John Howey
                          Sarah Jane was 
                        born on 25th December 1875, her parents were John 
                        Howey and his wife Eleanor (nee Bell) and her birth was 
                        registered in the Tynemouth Registration District.  
                        Her baptism took place at Christ Church, Tynemouth on 
                        19th January 1876, the record noted that the family 
                        lived at Albion Street and Sarah's Dad was a labourer. 
                        The 1881 census recorded the family at West Percy St., 
                        Tynemouth. Sarah was 5 and like her sisters Annie (10) 
                        and Esther (7) she went to school. She also had two 
                        brothers Joseph (3) and John George (2) and a baby 
                        sister Louisa who was 11 months old. Their Mam, Eleanor, 
                        was 39 and their Dad, John, was 38 - he worked as a 
                        labourer. 
                        Another brother, William, was born in 1882 but sadly he 
                        died in the quarter following his birth. 
                        More sadness as  Sarah's brother, Joseph, 
                        died in 1884 aged 6. When the 1891 census 
                        was taken the family were living at Bedford St., 
                        Tynemouth. Sarah was 15. Her Dad was 48 and his 
                        occupation was listed as furnaceman, her Mam was 49. The 
                        other children listed in the house were Esther (17), 
                        John (12) and Louisa (10). By the time of 
                        the 1901 census Sarah was 25, she was living at Ayrton 
                        Terrace in the Preston area of North Shields, where she 
                        worked as a domestic servant. In the 
                        final quarter of 1903, Sarah married Jonathon Eskdale, 
                        Sarah was 27 and Jonathon was 26. Their marriage was 
                        registered in the Tynemouth Registration District. Not 
                        long after they married, Sarah had a son, Edward, but 
                        sadly he died soon after birth. Sarah and 
                        her family were recorded on the census of 1911 living 
                        in South Chingford, Essex. Sarah was 35 and Jonathon was 
                        33. He worked as an electrical engineer. The census form 
                        stated they had been married for 7 years and they'd had 
                        3 children, one of whom had died. The other two children 
                        were listed on the census return, Jonathon  was 
                        five and Eleanor was two. Sarah Jane died 
                        in the last quarter of 1951, she was 75 years old and 
                        her death was registered in the Southend on Sea 
                        Registration District.    |
