I have not been able to find any information about Jane's early life. On the 26th April 1835 she married Thomas Walton at St. Cuthbert's Church in Darlington. Their witnesses were Ann Moore and R.H. Naylor. In 1835, Jane had her first child, Mary, followed by Catherine in 1837 and Ann in 1839. The children were all baptised at St Cuthbert's where their parents had been married. Their baptism records show that their father worked as an Iron Moulder. On the 1841 census, Jane and the three little girls were in the workhouse, I do not know what happened to Jane's husband Thomas. The only reference to Jane in the Darlington Workhouse records is that of her stillborn baby who was buried in March 1841, the census was taken in June so they had been in the workhouse for at least three months. I have not been able to find a record of Jane after the 1841 census.
