In 1895, at the age of 22, David Gilliand married Lily
Johnson, the 21 year old daughter of a picture frame
                        maker from Tow Law.

By the time of the 1901 census, David was 28, he was
working as a coal miner (Hewer). He and his wife Lily
were living at number 35 Gorches Row at Lintz Colliery
                        in Tanfield, Co. Durham.
They had three children, Minnie age 4 who had been born
in Sunniside, Willie (James William) age 2 who had been
born in Tow Law and Elizabeth Jane aged 2 months who had

David, he not only gave the birthplace for the children
but the actual address for each one ! He stated on the

had died. I have not yet found the records for this
